Meet our 2025 Executive Team!
Coming together from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, our skilled team of student professionals are the backbone of WA Biomedical Engineering Society. Their ideas help shape the direction and mission of our organisation as it continues to develop. Read on to learn more about some of our incredible team members.

Georgia Gould
PRESIDENT
I’m Georgia and thank you for checking out BES’s website! I am the president for 2025. I have been studying at UWA since 2020, first completing a Bachelor of Philosophy (Hons) and now in my final year of a Masters of Professional Engineering. I have been a part of both the Marketing and Industry teams previously and have watched the biomedical engineering cohort grow into an amazing community. What strikes me about biomedical engineering is just how passionate the students are about what they are studying.
My vision for BES is to foster this community by providing high quality events to support students’ development and connection with industry. I want to make BES stand out as a club this year, by getting involved with campus events and engaging marketing. I have an excellent team of hardworking execs to bring this vision to life - check out their bios!
Always happy to chat, please reach out to our various channels of communications if you have questions! You’re likely to catch me around campus either teaching, studying or getting involved in social sport.

Gaberiel Chavez
TREASURER
Hey guys! Your 2025 BES treasurer will be yours truly. For those who don’t know me, I am Gabriel and I am a 4th year biomedical engineering Honours student. When I am not spending my time worrying about my thesis, I am responsible for managing the club’s financial operations. This may include applying for grants, seeking sponsorships, and overseeing the BES event budgets. I strive to increase the assets of BES so it can be the BESt club it can be!
I have had the pleasure and privilege to be in BES for almost three years now, having been a committee member for the Engagement team, and a Vice President for the Development team. The reason for my long - and possibly overdue - stay has been my drive and passion for the MedTech field. The interplay between medicine, physics, mathematics, and patient care has been the motivating factor keeping me within this community. Outside my professional career, I love to go to the gym, play guitar, play sports with my friends.

Kiona Fry
SECRETARY
Hi, I’m Kiona and I am the 2025 BES secretary. In this role, I’ll be working to assist in planning and holding committee meetings, as well as the general administrative and organisational work required to help BES run smoothly. I’ll also be the one sending out newsletters to our members so keep an eye out for those and if you’re not yet a member, get in touch to get involved! I’m super excited to help bring you the BESt BES has to offer this year with personal focuses on inclusivity and engagement.
I am in my fourth year of my Bachelor of Engineering, specialising in Biomedical Engineering and currently completing my honours project. I chose this field as I've always been passionate about technology and medicine and love that through Biomedical Engineering I get to put into practice a combination of the two. Outside of BES and university you can find me either reading, crocheting or doing something musical.

Jeslyn Lim
VICE PRESIDENT OF INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT
Hi! I’m Jeslyn and I am BES’s Industry Vice President for 2025. In this role, I aim to bridge the gap between students and industry professionals within the biomedical engineering field. Whether it may be through networking events, connecting students to internship opportunities, or even upskilling students to build their confidence in reaching out to industry professionals and companies! Anything to do with industry, I’m your gal! Some of Industry’s exciting events planned for this year include Meet the Grads, a day tour of our infamous Perkins, BES’s industry flagship event Innovation In Medicine, and more!
I’m currently in my 3rd year at UWA, studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) majoring in Finance (I know, it’s a bit of a handful). But ultimately, as a passionate movie lover, I found myself deeply inspired by the way technology can be seamlessly integrated to enhance the human body and cure health challenges —especially influenced by the visionary concepts in Marvel films—and empower medical professionals to push the boundaries of what’s known to be possible.

Vanessa Miller
VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Hi, my name is Vanessa and I am BES’s Engagement Vice President for 2025. My role is to host fun events that foster connection between students in the biomedical engineering community! With the help of my Engagement team, I plan and run exciting events like the Fresher Welcome, Quiz Night, and BES’s PROSH campaign!
I’m in my 3rd year studying Biomedical Engineering at UWA. I love problem solving, and this field is awesome because the human body is always providing the most interesting, complex problems! Beyond uni, I love getting outside, playing sports, and making new friends!

Chloe Santos
VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT
Hi, my name is Chloe, and I am the Vice President of Development for 2025! In this role, I lead a team to design and run workshops that enhance the academic and technical skills of biomedical engineering students. My goal is to provide hands-on learning experiences that bridge the gap between theory and industry applications. Keep an eye out for our CAD, 3D printing, and embedded systems workshops this year, as well as our study nights!
I am currently in my third year of my undergraduate course, studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in biomedical engineering and a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) majoring in computer science. I chose this combination because I’ve always wanted to study technology and aspire to apply it to innovations in the medical field. I’m currently working at Bethesda Hospital, where I’ve had the privilege of gaining firsthand experience in a medical environment and seeing healthcare in action. Outside of work and studying, I love exploring creative hobbies—whether it's digital art, yarn crafts, or any project where I can work with my hands and try something new.

Timothy Lau
VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING
Hi, I’m Tim and I am the Marketing Vice President for BES in 2025. As the Vice President of Marketing for BES in 2025, I’m responsible for promoting events organized by our society through managing social media platforms and building connections and publicity with university clubs and the biomedical engineering industry. My goal is to create engaging, dynamic content that boosts BES’s presence while maintaining a professional image that reflects the values of the biomedical engineering field.
I’m currently studying a double degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), majoring in Biomedical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Physics, at the University of Western Australia. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of modern technology and the human body, and I’m excited about the potential of new innovations in biotechnology. Outside of uni, I love playing sports like tennis and frisbee, and I’m always up for a board game with friends.
