Vanessa Miller

PRESIDENT

Hi! I’m Vanessa, BES President for 2026. Thanks for checking out our website! I’m in my 4th and final year of my Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) here at UWA. I’ve been part of the BES Engagement team for the past two years, and I absolutely love the club and community we’ve built. This year, I’m excited to continue all the excellent student development, industry connection, and social events we run, as well as introduce an exciting new initiative - BES’s Wheelchair Project! I have an excellent team of hardworking execs to bring this vision to life - check out their bios below.

Outside of uni, I’ve completed internships in the engineering departments of Perth Children's, Royal Perth, and Fiona Stanley Hospitals. I love the beach, playing sports, and going to Broadway for gozleme after class. I’m always happy to chat - please reach out to our various channels of communications if you have questions!

Jeslyn Lim

TREASURER

Hello! I’m Jeslyn, and I have the pleasure and privilege of serving as BES’s Treasurer for 2026. I’m currently in my fourth year at UWA studying Biomedical Engineering and Finance, and I work as a Research and Development Intern at Lubdub. I’ve loved being part of BES for the past three years, and my long — and possibly overdue — stay has been driven by my passion for the MedTech field.

As a passionate movie lover, I’ve always been inspired by the way technology, medicine, and physics can be seamlessly integrated to enhance the human body, tackle complex health challenges, and empower medical professionals to push the boundaries of what’s known to be possible.

This year, I’m responsible for managing the club’s financial operations. This may include applying for grants, securing sponsorships, and overseeing BES event budgets. I strive to support students in growing their knowledge and skills in biomedical engineering, while strengthening the BES community through maximising our resources - helping BES become the BESt club it can be!

Victor Iso

SECRETARY

Hi! My name is Victor, and I have the honor of serving as your 2026 BES Secretary. This year, I’ll be handling the general administrative and organizational work required to ensure BES runs smoothly and continues to host interesting, rewarding, and inclusive events for all our members. I’ll also be the one sending out our newsletters with information about upcoming events and career opportunities (yes, you heard that right… internships!), so make sure to keep an eye on your inbox and check your spam folder just in case!

I’m currently in the fifth year of my double degree in Engineering and Science (Computer Science), specializing in Biomedical Engineering. Even before starting university, I was drawn to Biomedical Engineering as a field that seamlessly integrates engineering principles with the human body. Although I’ll be busy this year with work and my thesis project, please feel free to reach out if you’re interested in getting involved with BES. Outside of uni, you’ll usually find me watching films, playing games, or listening to music.

Caitlyn Edgar

VICE PRESIDENT OF INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT

Hi everyone! My name is Caitlyn and I’m the BES Industry Vice President for 2026. I’m currently in my final year of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in Biomedical (of course). I have experience working in the Rehabilitation, Clinical and Bioengineering fields in a hospital environment. Outside of uni, I love the beach, music, and op shopping (and chicken katsu don from Broadway). My main goal in BES is to further connect students with industry, and hopefully make sure we come out of uni with all of our prac hours and a job! I hope to continue the great work of the Industry teams before me and host engaging and informative events like Meet the Grads, Innovation in Medicine, and hospital tours, with some exciting new events planned for 2026.

When you tell someone you’re studying Biomedical Engineering, a lot of the time they ask what it is or what jobs it can get you, and sometimes you might not even know the answer. The Industry team hopes to bridge that knowledge gap with our events this year, and show you the world of opportunity that exists within the field. I can’t wait to get started alongside the other committee members this year, and hope to see you all at our events! :)

Grace Taylor

VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Hi, my name is Grace and I am BES’s Engagement Vice President for 2026. I am currently in my 4th year of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Biomedical) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance). My role is to host fun events that foster connection between students in the biomedical engineering community! With the help of my Engagement team, I plan and run exciting events like BES’s PROSH campaign, our Quiz Night, and I’m hoping to start a social sports team to get more people involved in BES and encourage an active lifestyle, especially since engineering can be pretty stressful.

Beyond uni, I play netball competitively and do triathlons, and I completed my first Ironman 70.3 in December 2024. I have experience interning at Innovate Medtech where I worked on creating an artificial kidney which was super exciting!

Jeremy Cooper

VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT

Hi, my name is Jeremy and I will be your 2026 Vice President of Development of BES. In this role, I lead a team to design and run workshops that enhance your technical skills to best prepare you for your exciting biomedical engineering career. My goal is to take what I have learnt from my degree and internships and provide students with the stepping stones to their success. Keep an eye out for our CAD and Biosensor workshops, year-long wheelchair project and study nights!

I am currently in my fourth year of my undergraduate course, studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Science majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Physiology. I am passionate about applying engineering solutions to advance medical devices and research. When I am not busy locked in, I love to go to the gym, watch AFL, play video games and doomscroll on my phone.

Timothy Lau

VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING

Hi, I’m Tim, the Marketing Vice President for BES for 2026. As the Vice President of Marketing for BES in 2026, I’m responsible for promoting events organized by our society through managing social media platforms and building connections and publicity with university clubs and the biomedical engineering industry. My goal is to create engaging, dynamic content that boosts BES’s presence while maintaining a professional image that reflects the values of the biomedical engineering field.

I’m currently studying a double degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Physics, at the University of Western Australia. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of modern technology and the human body, and I’m excited to apply what I’ve learnt from my experiences to new innovations in biotechnology. Outside of uni, I love playing sports like tennis and frisbee, and I’m always up for video or board games with friends!
